Super Falcons ace Asisat Oshoala put out a video on social media clad in Manchester United’s off-white third kit, celebrating their Europa League semi-final triumph over Athletic Club.
The Red Devils won the first leg 3-0, but the Bilbao-based outfit threatened a comeback when they scored first in the second leg. However, Ruben Amorim’s side roused themselves, beating their visitors 4-1 on the night and 7-1 on aggregate.
The match in brief
Athletic Club took the lead with Mikel Jauregizar’s sublime long-range effort, catching Manchester United off guard. The visitors continued to press, but United’s defense held firm until the second half.
United intensified their attack and scored their first goal through Mason Mount’s clinical strike after a triple change. This sparked a turnaround in the match.
United’s momentum grew, and they took the lead on the night with Casemiro’s header from Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick. Rasmus Hojlund and Mount added two more goals, sealing United’s 4-1 win and a spot in the Europa League final, giving them a chance to salvage the season.
